Eric Olson Receives Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO Endorsement
Olson honored to earn endorsement from labor
This week, Eric Olson – Democratic candidate for Prince George’s County Council District Three and a College Park City Councilman – received the endorsement of the Metropolitan Washington AFL-CIO, which represents 150,000 workers in the Metropolitan region.
"I am honored to receive this important endorsement" said Olson, "and to stand on the side of organized labor to improve the lives of workers and their families." Olson also remarked, "I share labor’s commitment to making our communities stronger, through ensuring good jobs, affordable health care, quality education, and accessible public transportation. I will work hard to make each of these goals a reality as a member of the Prince George’s County Council."
Jos Williams, President of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, said "The Metropolitan Washington Council of the AFL-CIO enthusiastically endorses Eric Olson. Eric has a long and successful record of standing up for working people and is the candidate best suited to move Prince George’s County forward, and improve the lives of working people and their families."
The Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, includes nearly 200 affiliated union locals in the Washington, DC area. The Council’s affiliates represent over 150,000 area union members in every line of work, from service industries, retail sales and communications to transportation, manufacturing, construction trades and the public sector at all levels.
This endorsement comes a week after Eric was endorsed by Progressive Maryland, the state’s leading coalition of labor, civil rights, faith-based, and community organizing groups.
